WHY do we need a purpose?

When was the last time someone asked – Why do you do what you do? Or even better, when was the last time you asked yourself – Why do I do what I do? It has become so easy to get caught up in what we do or how we do it that we often forget to ask the question that will truly lead to our success and happiness.
How to discover your Why:
What makes you come alive? “The word inspire comes from the Latin language, meaning ‘to breathe life into’.” A why that moves up the food chain from being about you to being about something bigger than you.
What are your innate strengths? This is when natural talent and skill, meets personal passion. As civil rights leader Howard Thurmon once stated, “don’t ask yourself what the world needs; ask yourself what makes you come alive, then go do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”
Where do you add the greatest value? Doing work that you’re good at, but which you loathe, is not a pathway to fulfillment.
How will you measure your life? “The best legacy you can leave is not some building named after you or piece of jewelry but rather a world that had been impacted and touched by your presence, your joy and your positive actions.” Jeremiah Captain
I’ve always wanted to do something in life to be able to give and help others, and thought the medical field would be my only option – and if any of you know me pretty well, I do not have an iron stomach for the medical field! A blessing of an opportunity came into my life a couple of years ago, and this was the first time someone asked me what my WHY was … I thought I knew what my WHY was, and I rambled off a list of things, goals I wanted to achieve and items on my vision board, but that wasn’t it. As I continued my journey with this opportunity to better my health, and help others do the same, I started to come alive with making a difference in someone’s life, bringing out the best of them and being a part of their journey and success! Also along the way, I’ve had some much needed personal growth to ultimately discover that my WHY is my parents! They are the driving force that keeps me focused & pushes me towards fulfilling my hopes and dreams of a bigger, brighter future for myself, and ultimately for me to be able to give back to them. Even on the toughest days when I beat myself up and feel what I’m doing doesn’t matter; I remember WHY I started.
