Small steps to get back on track!

We’re back from vacations and summer fun, and if you’re anything like myself you fell off track a bit with nutrition and exercise. But hey, it’s life and it’s meant to be enjoyed!
Instead of going cold turkey or getting super strict and torturing ourselves with the number on the scale, what if we work with what we’re already doing, make a few tweaks and add attainable, realistic goals? That’s what I was taught and that’s how I teach people who I have the privilege to coach.
The key to long term success is to set small and frequent goals, celebrate them once achieved, then set the next set of goals. “The person who moves a mountain, begins by carrying away small stones.”
Be a little less perfect to be a little more consistent. Don’t overthink it. Do your best. Show yourself some kindness. And realize that every single day is an opportunity to do something! An object in motion stays in motion, and an object at rest stays at rest. Which is why doing something, anything, as teeny tiny as it might be…matters.
The process isn’t always easy or pretty, but we’ve got to start appreciating where we are and how far we’ve come, instead of agonizing on how far we still have to go. Sometimes that’s easier said than done…hang in there! If you fall off track, don’t beat yourself up, just pick back up the next meal or day, instead of waving the white flag and saying “forget it, I’ll just start again on Monday”.
Accountability is another area that I personally focus on and what helps me the most; knowing that other people are counting on me to pump them up, encourage and motivate them, truly does keep me on track and excited about making daily improvements. And being a part of a fun, positive and uplifting group is contagious! Together Everyone Achieves More
