It’s the holiday season and the time of year when giving is more abundant!
“Giving back isn’t just good for your soul; it also does wonders for your health. Research shows that giving accompanies gratitude which causes people to feel healthier, more optimistic, and exercise more.”
It doesn’t always have to be monetary or materialistic, simply being a good listener to someone, or spending quality time together (detached from our cell phones!), or offering help and taking action is a way to give back and reconnect.
Of course gift giving is just as heartwarming when you put thought behind it. You may not know this about me, but I cannot stand shopping, seriously! I grew up in a house full of boys (dad & three brothers!), and my mom, who’s my best friend, is completely bummed over my dislike for the typical female past time. However, this is truly the only time of year that I enjoy shopping. Maybe it’s the stores decked out in winter wonderland themes, or just the feeling of finding that perfect item that you know will bring a smile to the one you’re buying for…in my case four sweet little nieces and nephews!
I have a feeling you can all relate, that the gift of giving is not only for the person on the receiving end, but for your own soul, happiness and health! Happy Holidays!
