New Year...Same Me

Happy New Year, and cheers to my very first blog sharing with all of you!

The new year is the time to reset, reflect and make those resolutions. But I have to admit, I don't think I've ever made or wrote down resolutions in previous New Years - probably because the word resolution makes me think I need to resolve issues in my life....eek!

For quite some time now, I've been on a continued journey of better health, so a new diet or fad has never been a resolution for me personally. Although, after this holiday season I'm feeling bloated, sluggish, full of cookies and extra pale lol so I am resetting and jumping back into reality today!

I'm also reflecting on how far I've come in all areas of my life, and what a difference a year really does make! With this, I'm learning how to appreciate where I am now, and each step I take towards my goals & dreams...this is a tough one for me because I've been falling into the trap of needing to be/do better - if I ate better I'd lose those extra few annoying pounds, or if I handled office stress better maybe I'd be in a different position. But the truth is, is that I'm still on this journey of improving, and even if I'm not where I want to be yet, I'm heading in that direction so I need to breathe and reflect!

Statistically, people who write down goals (or at this time of year, resolutions), are more likely to achieve them. Thinking and organizing your goals, and then putting them on paper makes them more attainable. It also gives you something to look at every day, as a reminder to keep going!

Last week, I read an article about making a mind map for the new year - with 2017 in the center, and each area of your life as individual "spokes" with goals/resolutions tied to each one. This excited me and feels like something I can adopt for the new year...since resolutions scare me lol Seeing the individual areas of m life that I want to improve or make changes to, feels more realistic and honestly, much more motivating.

So let's do this, 2017! Whatever works for you goal/resolution wise, kickstart your reset, reflect & appreciate your journey and get real with what you want to improve on this year - time to be a little selfish and use this time to be, all about you!
