To overthink or jump in, that is the question on taking action!

Having a Type A personality, I prefer to be well prepared, rehearsed & organized before taking action. While this applies to work assignments, it doesn't always work when attempting something new or making a change.

As I'm reading different books and articles on personal growth, along with looking back on how I've taken action in the past, I'm seeing that the best outcomes have come from just jumping in!

In 2010, I was a few years out of college and working my first "real job", and hadn't been active since high school. I was comfortable and content with where I was in life.

My friends invited me to do a kickboxing class with them and all I could think was "well I'm not in horrible shape, and I need to unwind and watch tv after work...but I guess I'll try it."

After being forced from the couch, I've been working out consistently ever since! Had I had more time to think about joining the class and talk myself out of it, I most definitely would've delayed the lifestyle I live now, which is better shape, better health, and a positive environment that helped me through difficult times.

We may be interested in something or like the sound of trying something new because of all the great feedback & hype we're hearing, but if we wait until everything is lined up just right we may never get around to making this change or ultimately delay something amazing in the meantime.

Jumping in and taking action is scary as hell! But it's better to just go for it, trust yourself & get excited that you are brave enough and deserving enough of a change!
